Royal Rebel by Jessica Peterson

Prince Robert isn’t one to settle down, or even have a relationship with a woman, so being strictly physical with Aly, a woman who can’t stand him, suits them both. At least until Aly decides it’s time to find “the one" and work on getting her fairytale ending. Just maybe there's more to Rob than the cocky, carefree playboy he portrays, because he can’t tolerate the idea of Aly dating someone else, even though he can’t give her what she wants. I had read the first book in this series, Royal Ruin , and loved it, so I was excited to read an advance copy of Rob's story. I could tell there was more to him than we saw at first glance and I knew his story would be great fun. What surprised me was now much he won me over and snuck into my heart. Its always entertaining when there's a character with the belief that he's not a relationship kind of guy due to his upbringing or DNA. I want to grab him and say, “You poor, misguided schmuck, meet my friend, Free Will.”  But

The Problem With Pugs by AG Henley

Image
A.G. Henley may be new to romantic comedy, with her Love and Pets series, but she's certainly made a name for herself in the Young Adult/Fantasy genre. The first book in her Brilliant Darkness series, The Scourge , has over 500 reviews on Amazon and over 3,500 ratings on Goodreads. It was a Library Journal Self-e Selection and a Next Generation Inde Book Award Finalist. I'm not actually sure how I came across this author. I obtained a free copy of the prequel to the Love and Pets series, Love, Pugs and Other Problems, and promptly fell in love.  I instantly connected with the heroine, Amelia, who thought her boyfriend was going to propose, but instead left her and the pug, Doug, to pursue a business venture in Bali. The Problem With Pugs starts with Amelia and Doug now living in her sister's apartment having a weekly Skype session with the estranged boyfriend. Amelia is trying to convince herself that she still actually has a boyfriend when in reality all she has is

Afterburn by Amy Knupp

Image
Have you read Amy Knupp? I recently found her and read Firestorm , the fourth book in her Island Fire series. If you're like me and every error or typo is as jarring as a pothole, you'll enjoy the smooth, freshly paved reading road of Amy's books. On top of being meticulous about her finished product, she's a talented writer and gifted storyteller. For the second time, I'm impressed with how seamlessly she weaves together several subplots, resolving them all beautifully. Afterburn is the fifth book in the series and I loved this one! It's a story of opposites and contrasts, of pain, loss and resentments, and of growth, fulfillment and redemption. Definitely a five-star read, as I explain in my review. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mercedes has a long history of taking care of the people in her life – her mother, her sister, her ailing grandmother and the women who come to the shelter where she volunteers. When a pregnant teenager, Gemma, comes to the full shelter, Mercedes off

Knox by Lane Hart

Lane Hart knows heart. And humor, and smexy, and sports romance. From her Playing Dirty series to her Cocky Cage Fighters, to her latest Out of the Cage series, we can always count on her to deliver an emotionally driven story with plenty of heat and a good dose of humor. Although her characters are often in their 20's, her storylines are so compelling that I'm completely drawn in and I rarely consider their age while reading. Knox is young - like old enough to vote but not old enough to drink - and yet life has given him experience and wisdom far beyond his years. All three of the guys in this series have had a rough life, but I think Knox touched me the most.  You'll see why in my review of this five-star read.  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “I came into the world with a great big hole right smack dab in the center of my soul.” With the very first sentence of this book, Knox owned me, heart and soul. So tragically damaged from his parents abandoning him at his birth, he has never known lo
